Safe Drop-Off and Pick-Up Task Force

Safe drop off. Safe pick up. Peace of mind.

No one wants to see a single child, or parent or guardian, get hurt.

VOLUNTEER TO BE PART OF THE SAFE DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP TASK FORCE – VOLUNTEER TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION.

Many parents, as well as school staff, have expressed concern about the safety of Humewood kids during drop-off and pick-up times.

The intersections of Valewood and Humewood on the East side of the school; Valewood and Cherrywood on the West side of the school; and Maplewood and Humewood to the South of the school have been singled out as being often congested, hard to navigate, and difficult for kids to cross safely.

Possible safety improvement measures are being discussed with the police and the city. In the meantime, we can do something about this, and soon.

Please seriously consider joining a group that is forming to keep the streets around the school safe by acting as drop-off and pick-up volunteers.

You will have a say in how this issue is handled, and what the role of the parent volunteers will be.

Availability during drop-off times (8:15-9:00 a.m.) and/or pick-up times (3:00-3:30) at least once a week will be necessary.

Please email your interest in participating in this important initiative to humewoodschoolcouncil@gmail.com.

No previous experience as a crossing guard necessary!
